Ken grew up in Toronto, Canada where he was a Toronto Star and Globe & Mail newspaper delivery boy. In the winter, he also ran a side business of snow removal and continued both while attending the University of Toronto and the Toronto Teachers' College. Ken and his family moved to Florida in 1981 and is an American citizen.

Ken graduated from the University of South Florida in 1989 with a degree in education and has continued taking courses there and at St. Petersburg College. Ken has certification status in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. Ken successfully completed his Masters degree in Health Sciences at USF in December of 2010.

Ken worked for English Language Services at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg for almost eight years where he received excellent training. Then he worked for International Language Exchange as a senior instructor; at the same time, Ken taught Algebra, Geometry, Physics and Trigonometry at Get Smart Tutorial Services; Ken also taught ESL to foreign executives on a one-to-one basis as a private entrepreneur; then Ken founded the ACADEMIC LEARNING CENTER in August 1999.
